I am a 67 year old retired teacher. A few years ago I took a very bad fall and injured my right knee. After several months of doctor visits and PT with my local orthopedic doctor I had no relief. I thought I would just have to deal with the constant pain in my leg for the rest of my life.  I am an avid walker who loves to walk 4-5 miles a day. This injury stopped my ability to do that, and I thought it would continue to stop me doing what I love to do. This situation not only affected my ability to walk but it impacted my entire life. I had constant pain and was unable to sleep through the night.

Finally I decided to reach out to a friend who I knew worked at HSS. She helped me get in touch with Dr. Shubin Stein. Dr. Shubin Stein was absolutely wonderful from the very first appointment, and based on her physical examination of my leg, X-rays, and the results of an MRI she concluded that I needed a partial knee replacement. I was a little reluctant due to the fact that I had to travel to NYC for my surgery, but I am so glad I did!

The surgery went well and now I am starting to enjoy my life again. It was the best decision I could have ever made. It has now been 7 months since that wonderful day that Dr. Shubin Stein gave me back my way of life.  I have started walking again and I am up to 2 -3 miles a day a couple of times a week with zero pain. In general I can not say enough great things about Dr. Shubin Stein. She is a very skilled and knowledgeable doctor. Her staff is also terrific, and incredibly supportive. I would recommend Dr. Shubin Stein to anyone who is experiencing an issue or is suffering with a knee problem. She is a first class doctor.  And I am so glad that I listened to her advice. It was the best decision I could have made.

Thank you Dr. Shubin Stein!
