My name is Dr. Beth Shubin Stein. I am the Director of the Patellofemoral Center at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS). HSS is a world renowned hospital that treats patients with various musculoskeletal conditions and is recognized as the #1 hospital for orthopedic surgery in the United States for the past 10 years. In my long career as an orthopedic surgeon at HSS I have had the pleasure of treating many international patients from a variety of countries. Patients travel from all over to see me especially those who are experiencing complicated issues of the knee and shoulder joints. My years of surgical experience and research in the area of sports medicine practice has lead me to my focus and passion of treating complicated conditions of the knee and shoulder. I utilize minimally-invasive, state-of-the-art arthroscopic techniques to treat various conditions such as instability of the knee cap (patella), cartilage restoration of the knee as well as ligament tears of the knee including tears of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). I also routinely treat patients with arthritis of the patellofemoral joint and perform shoulder surgery for injuries of the rotator cuff and labrum. We know that choosing to travel to another country for medical care can seem like a daunting task, but you can rest assure that our office in coordination with the International Center at HSS will strive to make your experience as easy and stress free as possible.

Appointments/Billing

The HSS International Center will handle scheduling of appointments with our office, coordinate billing and payment arrangements and arrange for medical interpreters while you are here.

Travel

Arrange for appropriate travel to the office including air and ground transportation.

Surgery Date

If surgery is deemed necessary we will help you arrange a convenient surgical date.

Hotel

Hospital for Special Surgery’s Belaire Guest Facilities offers comfortable lodging that is conveniently located directly across from the Hospital. Belaire units can also be used prior to hospital admission and beyond hospital discharge.

Medical Clearance

We will determine based on your medical history whether you need further testing to be done prior to surgery with one of our medical doctors. This helps us determine if you are a candidate to have surgery at our ambulatory surgery center or the main hospital.

Appointments/Billing

After surgery we will arrange for you to meet with one of our expert therapists at HSS Sports and Performance PT in order to tailor a physical therapy program that you can take with you so you can continue therapy once you return home.
